“Let’s face it- men and boys just have different brains from women and girls”
15:05 Edit This 0 Comments »This week I’m going to talk about the paper “Understanding the brain: The birth of a learning science”.
We had to read the chapter six: “Dispelling ‘Neuromyths’”. In this chapter the author talk us about myths in Neuroscience. Now I’m going to talk you about one myth in particular: “Let’s face it- men and boys just have different brains from women and girls”
The myth in this part of the article is about that men and women think differently due to a different brain development. Scientists said that the terms "feminine brain" and "masculine brain" refer to "ways of being" described in cognitive terms rather than to any biological reality. Baron Cohen believe that men are more methodical that women, and women are better communicators that men. He also speech about autism, and that can be understood like an extreme form of "masculine brain", but he does not propose that men and women have radically different brains. He only employs the term "masculine and feminine brain" to refer to particular cognitive profile. But unfortunately contributes to distorted ideas concerning the workings of the brain.
I think that is a very interesting myth, because people always say that. I don’t believe that we have a different brain, but I believe that we can highlight different capabilities depending on our gender. For example, always has been assigned social and communication skills to women and capabilities in areas more structured to men.
Well this was my opinion about this part of the article… I hope you like it
See you soon!
Hugs and kisses!!
